Thomas Gioconda also is a vice president with Bechtel National, Inc. (BNI). His responsibilities have included BNI's business development and operation activities with the Department of Defense, DOE/NNSA and other U.S. government market sectors. He coordinated the overall business development efforts and provided support to colleagues in the development of new business in their assigned areas of work. He functioned as a principal BNI long-range "marketer" for Defense and Space; nuclear weapons industry and infrastructure; non-proliferation; global nuclear materials activities of DOE; and other markets of BNI interest. He also served as the transition manager for both Los Alamos National Laboratory (2006) and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (2007) for their individual six-month contract turnovers, as well as contract transition manager for work at the Reagan Test Center on the Kwajalein Atoll (Marshall Islands).

Prior to joining Bechtel in 2001, Tom spent 31 years in the U.S. Air Force in a series of leadership, operational and managerial positions within missile and space operations, program and budgeting, and joint service responsibilities. He served as an intercontinental missile squadron commander, legislative assistant to two chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and an acting assistant secretary of Energy for Defense Programs. He retired from the Air Force as a Brigadier General. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in history from Saint Joseph's University ('70), a master�s in business administration from the University of Montana ('75), and a master�s in school administration from Seton Hall University ('79). He also is a graduate of the Air War College, Air Command and Staff College, and Air Force Squadron Officer School, as well as several missile and space technical programs.
